Oki. Hello.
My name is Jodi Smith and I am the Learning Support Teacher (LST) at Senator Joyce Fairbairn. This is my ninth year of teaching and my third year working as an LST. I have experience teaching grades K-9 in a variety of capacities. I have worked for the Tsuu t'ina Board of Education, the Calgary Board of Education and Lethbridge School Division.
I am married to an wonderful man, Barry...going on 9 years now! We have two incredibly beautiful daughters, Marleigh who is 7 years old and Aspyn who is almost 5, and one fur child (dog) - Mollie.
My role as LST, is to support the learning of ALL students in the school.
I absolutely love my role and I meet challenges with curiosity and enthusiasm. As the LST, I endeavour to support student academic and social emotional needs through one-on-one learning, small group interventions and through helping build teacher capacity to support diverse learner needs in the classroom. I believe that classrooms should be inclusive of all students and the success of the child is dependent on a collective support between the student, parents and teachers alike.
The best part of LST is building strong relationships with a variety of students, teachers and parents. I am absolutely thrilled to be part of a new school with such amazing staff, spirit and vision! I am honoured to call Senator Joyce Fairbairn my home!
